In 2003, Bridgepoint subsequently led an institutional buy-out of the business, recognising with management that the Molton Brown brand had sufficient critical mass to sustain further growth in the UK through the rollout of owned stores and in the capitals around the world, particularly in-store. The company also developed other retail channels including spa treatments and in-flight sales.
In July 2005, Molton Brown was sold to Kao Corporation of Japan.
