A shim is a key component used by the global commercial and military aerospace markets to isolate two materials in the assembly of aerostructures.

The opportunity to acquire the business arose when Shimtech’s parent needed to raise capital to reduce leverage in its business. During the investment period, the company completed the acquisitions of Performance Plastics Inc. and Angeles Composite Technologies Inc., manufacturers of composite aerospace components and assemblies.
